It's that time of the year! The AusReading Month

Every November for the past five years, Brona's Books has hosted an Australian reading challenge. This is my fourth year of joining in and it's something I really look forward to. Brona has oodles of Aussie book suggestions if you need some ideas. I also have a page with links to various Aussie books, especially classics, that we've used with our children over the years - see here.
Fiction, non-fiction, essays, children's picture books, Australian classics - take your pick, write your thoughts or a review and link it here.

This year I'm reading:

* My Love Must Wait: the Story of Matthew Flinders by Ernestine Hill. I actually read this a bit earlier but I'm posting it here as it is such a great read and a forgotten Aussie classic, originally published in 1941, that deserves to be read by a new generation of readers.

* A Murder Unmentioned by Sulari Gentill - this is the sixth book in the Rowland Sinclair crime series set in the 1930's.

* Come Danger, Come Darkness by Ruth Park

My Love Must wait has been on my wishlist for ages, your review has inspired me to actually order it in at work :-)

I think Sulari is getting better with each book, so I feel confident that you will enjoy #6.

Thanks for joining in again.

I really need to read more Australian literature myself. It looks like you have some good books coming up. I look forward to your future posts.

I’ve only read Ruth Park’s books written for children & her writing is excellent. Enjoy your month of Aussie reading, Nancy.

I didn't know about this challenge or even that there was a specific Australian genre.

There are some great Aussie classics that would be really worth your while, Michele!

Hee hee! I just finished Picnic at Hanging Rock for the Back to the Classics Challenge 2017! What a coincidence.

I will definitely check out Brona's round up. I know there is a ton of titles out there that I am unaware of. There is a book tube meme/tag going around called "Reading my Country" and it is so interesting to hear from readers NOT from the US or the UK complete the tag.

Oh, I hope you join in! There are so many great Aussie books that the rest of the work needs to hear about.
Look forward to reading your review of Picnic at Hanging Rock. I've seen the movie but haven't read the book.
