She's been there less than a month. I'll recommend this book to her for her personal study. We’ve had bushfires near us but even knowing they were unlikely to come our way, it was still unnerving. Take care.XCarolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06820925595506920754noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-37141266874709223962018-08-28T06:04:01.160+10:002018-08-28T06:04:01.160+10:00Carol

Now it's on my wish list! <br />Just read another previously unread to me Thiele book, Pannikin and Pinta. All about Lake Eyre and Steaky Bay, with a little Coorong. They sound good. Will see if our library had them. Thiele was very versatile. I’ve mostly read the books he wrote for children but his writing in this book just sings. It’s lovely writing. We lived in a few isolated areas when I was growing up & it d finitely leaves a lasting impression. Have you ever seen any of the BBCs Coast Australia documentary series hosted by Neil Oliver? We just recently found the first two series at our library and have really enjoyed the mix of history and geography each episode provides. In fact just a couple of weeks ago we watched an episode in series two (called Encounter Bay) which visits this region and I first heard of the D'Entrecasteaux, Flinders encounter, so this review is particularly timely for me!Angelanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-2297217048341146072018-08-26T23:30:11.388+10:002018-08-26T23:30:11.388+10:00Great post. It sounds as if the trip itself had a big impact upon you. Based on your description of it I can see why. The area sounds awe inspiring.Brian Josephhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15139559400312336791noreply@blogger.com
