I'm going to...So much to think on here, Carol! I'm going to be pondering how best to find that balance between the romantic and the mechanical: in marriage, in prayer, and I think in much of life! For me, liturgies tend to help me with this in that they take beauty and mystery and put it into tangible form -- or the reverse as well: they take routine and elevate it to special or sacred. I'm sure there are so many ways I could be hitting this balance better.Celestehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05834674328751444179noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-27992721123250014772017-02-11T16:20:23.745+11:002017-02-11T16:20:23.745+11:00That's interesting, Sharon. I can go for weeks without seeing some of our neighbours but if I go for a walk in the morning it often turns out to be quite a social event. In the fifties, the government worked with the auto industry to INTENTIONALLY design towns so that people would have to drive to stores and schools. This created a dependence on cars. This was completely unnecessary. Not only did Americans put on weight but we stopped getting to know our neighbors.
Today they could create towns where everything is in walking distance and they should! Older towns made before the car was invented or became common are made that way.Gently Madhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10450371589766691273noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-33459733740554213952017-02-10T16:11:31.603+11:002017-02-10T16:11:31.603+11:00Funny, because I always think my writing is a mess...Funny, because I always think my writing is a mess! I used to be very neat and I compare my writing to how it used to be.
I think we must have a lot in common - art, music, books.
I get the fact that driving everywhere is so much a part of life and I have to do a fair bit of it but when we lived in our previous house we were walking distance to the shops, library & some close friends so we did a lot more on foot.
From your photos I wouldn't have thought you were overweight btw but I had a good laugh at your comments :)Carolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06820925595506920754noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-91850243557661637832017-02-10T11:32:05.247+11:002017-02-10T11:32:05.247+11:00Wow. His women are so delicate and beautiful.

Thirdly, I read French Women Don't Get Fat too. She was a tiny bit of a French snob but I also realized that in America we simply cannot live the lifestyle that would keep the lard off.

We have to drive everywhere and we use elevators. If we had to walk everywhere, including up flights of stairs plus had time to really prepare quality food, we'd be slender too. Tragic.

On the plus side, I weighed in at Weight Watchers today and lost another 3 lbs. I find the accountability helps me stay on target.

Finally, and most importantly! What a lovely expression of your devotion to God. I have to discipline myself to make time for Bible study and prayer every day. I'm ashamed at how easily it gets away from me. Thanks for the encouragement.Gently Madhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10450371589766691273noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-21731233665698623452017-02-10T09:07:57.123+11:002017-02-10T09:07:57.123+11:00My pleasure, Erika.
