She reads so quickly that it’s hard to keep in her good supply but at least Christie was prolific!Carolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06820925595506920754noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-60730124489695591502019-07-18T13:30:01.664+10:002019-07-18T13:30:01.664+10:00Hi Sharon, great to hear that your husband is supp...Hi Sharon, great to hear that your husband is supporting your book passions! We picked up 4 NM books this morning and a number of Agatha Christie books we didn’t have.
I tried one of Gardner’s stories but didn’t really click with it & have read Fer de Lance by Stout. I liked that & would like to read some more. I’ve never seen his books for sale here & had to buy that book online new. What Stout books would you recommend?Carolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06820925595506920754noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-70423664144662582042019-07-16T10:09:38.489+10:002019-07-16T10:09:38.489+10:00Re: fiction fan's comment above, I think Chris...Re: fiction fan's comment above, I think Christie used the plot twice because the Yellow Iris is a Poirot short story but sounds very similar to Sparkling Cyanide. She did the same thing (both times with Poirot!) with the short story The Triangle at Rhodes and Evil under the Sun.

I may will check it out myself soon. I've been on a bit of a Christie kick this year and I can access the audio book of Sparkling Cyanide which might be fun.Ruthiellahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03871834571645928819noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-36433499556294166902019-07-16T03:00:04.134+10:002019-07-16T03:00:04.134+10:00I have a lot of Christie on my list, my favorites ...I have a lot of Christie on my list, my favorites are with Hercule Poirot and I really like David Suchet's TV series better than Christie's writing, which is unusual for me. I find that the series made the characters more interesting and complex than the books.

It's funny you say you are on a crime spree. Mysteries are my weekend reads. Because of one of your reviews I impulse bought a Ngaio Marsh and loved it so much that I got 27 of her novels, via my husband, on ebay for a song. My husband may never read them, but he can't resist the rush of out bidding others.

I'm excited about reading them.

Do you read any American writers like Erle Stanley Gardner? They are different in style, but fun. I like Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe and Gardner's Donald Lam and Bertha Cool mysteries.Sharon Wilfonghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17466621290140789056noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-67125938138500441512019-07-15T20:02:02.615+10:002019-07-15T20:02:02.615+10:00So The Yellow iris was made into a play...I just r...So The Yellow iris was made into a play...I just read this: https://www.agathachristie.com/stories/yellow-iris-1Carolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06820925595506920754noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-85925207978709854152019-07-15T19:26:29.428+10:002019-07-15T19:26:29.428+10:00For some reason, I thought this was a Poirot one. ...For some reason, I thought this was a Poirot one. I felt sure I remembered David Suchet doing it. On checking, it seems it's an expansion of a short story The Yellow Iris, which did have Poirot in it. I wonder why she dumped him for the full-length version...FictionFanhttp://www.fictionfanblog.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-9134267154825926582019-07-14T16:42:20.121+10:002019-07-14T16:42:20.121+10:00Hi Mudpuddle, Im surprised that I'd never hear...Hi Mudpuddle, Im surprised that I'd never heard ot this one before I found it the other day.Carolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06820925595506920754noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-87875782821344220612019-07-14T16:41:25.677+10:002019-07-14T16:41:25.677+10:00Hi Brian, I think my first Christie was 'Murde...Hi Brian, I think my first Christie was 'Murder on the Orient Express or maybe Death on the Nile??Carolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06820925595506920754noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-79962029311430053682019-07-14T00:35:51.746+10:002019-07-14T00:35:51.746+10:00i liked this a lot; AC rarely disappoints...i liked this a lot; AC rarely disappoints...mudpuddlehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16647084124715892324noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-73657755616187028462019-07-13T23:35:59.661+10:002019-07-13T23:35:59.661+10:00I have been meaning to read Agatha Christie for ye...I have been meaning to read Agatha Christie for years.
