When I think about it, I'm surprised that they appeal to me so much. They can be downright depressing and hopeless & I don't generally read books I know to be too dark but dystopian is a different kettle of fish to me.<br />Carolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06820925595506920754noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-84460699362105199342018-05-15T18:37:42.990+10:002018-05-15T18:37:42.990+10:00Ruthiella, my copy of the book also includes '...Ruthiella, my copy of the book also includes 'The Invisible Man' and I'm tempted to start reading it.Carolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06820925595506920754noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-33666853500001283042018-05-15T18:36:22.357+10:002018-05-15T18:36:22.357+10:00Anne, my impression of the book was that it would ...Anne, my impression of the book was that it would probably appeal more to teenaged boys than girls.Carolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06820925595506920754noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-35719421689964992682018-05-15T18:34:32.295+10:002018-05-15T18:34:32.295+10:00Brian, I haven't seen either movie but even th...Brian, I haven't seen either movie but even the Daleks in Dr Who scared me stupid when I was a kid & I've always tended to avoid anything like that in a movie. I agree with you, I too went through a SF phase, and I also prefer dystopia. I can see why it's still a book worth reading, but I agree that it would possibly have been of more impact close to the publication and before the advances that we have.Silviahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17249978624747684879noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-24243584540860205932018-05-15T04:26:08.002+10:002018-05-15T04:26:08.002+10:00Great review! It is indeed a study in human arrogance. As you know I am currently reading Cixin Liu‘s Remembrance of Earth’s Past Trilogy. When I think about it, the basic plot of both tales is very similar.
