George Herbert, too! Oh, so many choices, so little time. And now that you mention The Highwayman, maybe I should go back and re-read it.Chere Mamahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04252460787695644955noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-79118148440153154902016-04-17T15:04:24.301+10:002016-04-17T15:04:24.301+10:00I feel much the same way when I read American auth...I feel much the same way when I read American authors & poets. I understand the language but not the connections. We've been listening to an audio of Tom Sawyer & the narrator has made it so enjoyable because he knows the lingo.Carolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06820925595506920754noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-1457731407809172082016-04-17T12:33:34.091+10:002016-04-17T12:33:34.091+10:00I purchased a used poetry book of the poems of Rob...I purchased a used poetry book of the poems of Robert Burns and I realized that I can't read them for myself. I can only understand them if someone else reads them aloud. I do wish we had a poet that the whole country loves. Maybe Walt Whitman or Robert Frost are the closest to that love. I enjoyed reading your favorites. My Poetry AnswersAnne@HeadFullofBookshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01069558006454986084noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-87729140318591904202016-04-16T13:35:09.422+10:002016-04-16T13:35:09.422+10:00:):)Carolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06820925595506920754noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-1595167185652637242016-04-16T09:07:24.469+10:002016-04-16T09:07:24.469+10:00That's so great that you've always loved p...That's so great that you've always loved poetry! I envy you that. Such great answers to the tag. Edward Lear is really funny :-) And "The Highwayman" is kind of addictive, isn't it? I love its cadence.Hamlette (Rachel)https://www.blogger.com/profile/11961916847426233995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-84372214770856278882016-04-12T08:58:25.729+10:002016-04-12T08:58:25.729+10:00My youngest loved that book!
