That may take the form of just an oral re-telling, a picture/diagramme narration or a written narration of some sort. She hasn't begun a Science notebook yet although she might do an experiment now & again if it fits with the reading.Carolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06820925595506920754noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-79828473124222507112015-10-27T05:16:36.952+11:002015-10-27T05:16:36.952+11:00Reading about Robert Boyle for science sounds fasc...Reading about Robert Boyle for science sounds fascinating! Do you do many supplementary projects or experiments or just read through the biography?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07681782021483196362noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-46582721705246664062015-10-17T22:29:47.191+11:002015-10-17T22:29:47.191+11:00I'd love to see your free reading list!I'd love to see your free reading list!Tully Familyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11128339420825324229noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-64816774882492634862015-10-16T14:04:22.124+11:002015-10-16T14:04:22.124+11:00This is the 'official' list of books. Otherwise they are free to read anything else, however quickly they like (the free reading in AO isn't scheduled but can be read whenever) - they just have to check with me for age suitability first. This girl is a very quick reader and is always looking for something to read. It's a good problem to have!Carolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06820925595506920754noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-83486483210344417642015-10-15T22:29:26.672+11:002015-10-15T22:29:26.672+11:00Thank you for sharing! :) Do you also keep a list ...Thank you for sharing! :) Do you also keep a list to pull from of free reads? As I nail down our science book selections, my children are requesting more. They love to read! I've been wondering about how this fits with slow reading/learning or if I should just continue to let them read quicker in their free time. It is a quoll - of the Dasyuridae family. I've never seen one and when I saw this book I thought he was talking about a quokka which we had in WA but that's just a very small wallaby. Isn't it good to be learning alongside our children - I can't believe how ignorant I've been about a lot of Natural History.
I've found his books at Lifeline sales mostly but they're hard to spot if they don't have a jacket. Did you know he was also an authority on Australian criminal history?Carolhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06820925595506920754noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7546783121640385268.post-64837451245030451432015-10-15T17:10:28.280+11:002015-10-15T17:10:28.280+11:00Lovely choices Carol. You make planning look so effortless:)
I presume a tiger cat is a quoll... my mother's chickens were decimated by one it actually bit through the chicken wire in the pen.
CK Thompson came from Newcastle... I will keep an eye out for his books I know you have recommend them before but I haven't seen any... do I really need more children's books??? Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
